Compliance

Every obligation. And where each one stands.

A self-funded MEWA owes filings to four agencies, at two levels, on deadlines that share no calendar. Mewa.io tracks every one, prepares and checks each filing, and files what we prepare directly with the agency.

A plan year of obligationsSomething due every month.

The load

One MEWA, thousands of filings.

A single employer files about a dozen forms a year. A self-funded MEWA files that dozen for the arrangement, then a second set for every participating employer.

The arrangement itself is about a dozen filings a year: Form M-1, the MEWA’s own 5500 with Schedules A, C, D and H, PCORI, RxDC, the gag-clause attestation and Part D, the state annual report, plus the VEBA’s Form 990, which we coordinate. Countable, and once each.

Then, at the participating-employer level, a set of its own: Form 5500 or 5500-SF, a Summary Annual Report, plan documents and the SPD, 1095-B reporting, continuation determinations and the Medicare Small Employer Exception. Times several thousand.

Each one carries its own deadline, its own status and its own party waiting on it, and a single missed filing runs to DOL penalties that compound by the day. That is what the dashboard below tracks: every filing, at both levels, at once.

The dashboard

Your compliance dashboard, the same one we work from.

Open it whenever you want and it is current to the minute. It carries every obligation for the plan year, at both levels: the step each one is on, its target date, its response window, and the party it is waiting for – including when that party is us.

The Mewa.io compliance screen for a plan administrator: counters for past due, waiting on you, with Mewa.io, with others, due in 30 days and complete; then every obligation with its current step, who it is waiting on and its due date. The participating-employer batch shows 4,270 filed of 5,786. Form 5500 is open, showing eight steps with owners, target dates and response windows.
Illustrative, with synthetic figures. The position on one day in July: four filings with us, one waiting on the administrator’s signature, and the whole page downloads as a dated PDF.
Peace of mind

Prepared, chased, checked. Filed.

Knowing a deadline is coming is not the same as meeting it. What matters is what happens in between: who chases the missing piece, what gets checked before a return moves, and whether the year holds up when somebody looks at it later.

01

Nothing slips

Across the MEWA’s own returns and thousands of participating-employer filings, every deadline is tracked against its own anchor, so nothing creeps up unhandled or slides past its date.

02

We do the chasing

Anything waiting on an employer, the carrier or the auditor is followed up by us, in the system. You can see where each one stands without asking.

03

You see the return before you sign it

Rendered on the official form, exactly as it will be filed. Each one reaches you prepared, checked against last year’s, and showing where every figure came from. Any figure on any filing is open to challenge, and nothing transmits while a question of yours is open.

04

The year is already reconciled

A correction produces a new version. The old one stays, so what was prepared, what was questioned and what was done about it are all on the record. The books close the same way, month by month, with every difference named. When a board or an auditor asks, the year has already been reconciled, because it was reconciled as it ran.

The assurance

What stands behind the dashboard.

The dashboard is the visible part. Behind it stand the people, the authority and the safeguards a plan’s compliance actually rests on.

01

One team behind it

The platform, the filing and the plan accounting are run by the in-house team that built them, with outside ERISA counsel on the calls that turn on judgment. The software runs the volume; the judgment has people behind it.

02

You keep the authority

You sign as plan administrator with your own EFAST2 credentials; we transmit as a registered transmitter. Every discretionary call stays yours. The engagement is a non-fiduciary service, by design.

03

Your data, protected

Mewa.io holds enrollment, census and filing data, and never a diagnosis, a clinical record or claim-level detail. The data we never collect is data that can never be exposed. What we do hold is encrypted, access-controlled and logged, under a Business Associate Agreement with every plan.
